Hello Layne's readers. I promised her that I would post at least once while she is out of town. So here goes.
On Sunday we started the second half of the season in Stavanger, which is on the west coast of Norway. There was talk of having to bus there. It would have been close to a 10 hour ride, but at the last minute the club received some more sponsorship money and was able to fly us to the game. (Was very happy about that.) If you were wondering the game did not go very well. (1-9 Ouch.) At least it was a good time traveling with the guys.
That night I missed the last bus home. Not living near anyone to be dropped off on the way home, I asked our equipment manager if I could take the team van. Right before getting in the car to leave, the equipment manager tells me to watch out for the cops. (Why? I guess no one turned off the alarm for the arena/locker-room and the cops might stop me since I was driving the team van.) This made me a little nervous. Explaining to the police why the alarm went off would be easy enough. The police finding out I am here illegally would be the problem. On a side note, I found out with a manual transmission on a Volkswagen Van that reverse is placed where first gear has been on every other manual I 've drove. (Real happy nothing was behind me.) Well on the way home I did see the police with there lights on, but luckily they went right past me. The next day I found out the hard way there is no free parking anywhere in Oslo. (They could have posted a sign. Right?) I do not miss driving anymore.
I recently realized with Layne being gone for four days, this will be the longest I have EVER had a place to myself. Not that surprising being I have three brothers and have never had less than three roommates while living in New York. Don't tell Layne, but it is has been kind of nice.
