After our day of skiing in
Meråker, we went back to Katrine's house to clean up and get ready for her friends to come over to play games. Katrine also told me she was going to make waffles, and I got really excited. I have managed to go four months without trying a waffle. I resisted so long because I knew if I liked them too much, I'd have to have one at every hockey game (a habit my wallet and butt certainly do not need!)

Want to know what Norwegians put on their waffles? Jam, sour cream, and brown cheese! I also hadn't had brown cheese (brunost) before that day, either. To be honest, the color was a huge turnoff. Trav and I had seen it at the store, but never once thought to buy it. But let me tell you, on a waffle or on Katrine's homemade crackers, it is actually pretty good. It is creamy and sweet.

After eating, we played games. The first game was a Norwegian version of Catch Phrase. They all played in English, though. When it was my turn to describe the words, someone translated the words for me. The game was so much easier for me than everyone else. I really appreciated the effort they went to to include me in everything. There were also cards where people had a list of celebrities to describe. It was hilarious to hear their descriptions of American celebrities. I took a video, but it wasn't the best quality because my flipcam ran out of batteries. If you want to check it out, follow this link:

After playing the Catch Phrase game, we played Truth or Dare. It was also very fun, and helped me to better understand Norwegian culture (although it is heavily influenced by the US.)

Loved hearing about Trondheim. Did you see Nidelven? There is a famous song about it. I understand the waffle love. The first time I was in Norway, when I was 12, they stuffed me with heart-shaped waffles and now they are Brynn's and my favorite breakfast. Was the brown cheese goat cheese? You will have to go to Ingebretsens when you come back to stock up on your favorite norwegian foods (or chocolate).
