Well Layne is out of town and I agreed to post for her.

As Layne posted last time, Manglerud just missed playoffs.  Immediately after the win against Lillehammer, we checked the score of the Rosenborg game in the locker room. We found out there game was tied with 2:00 minutes left. For Manglerud to make playoffs, Rosenborg had to lose or tie. As we were waiting for the final score to come in, all of the Norwegians started to cheer and talk in Norwegian. Not knowing what they were saying I gathered the game ended in a tie, thus putting us into the playoffs. I was wrong. The cheer was because Rosenborg lost the lead with 50 seconds left and everyone assumed the game would end that way. Instead Rosenborg scored twice in the last 50 seconds to win and earn the last playoff spot. (A little bit of a roller coaster of emotions.) Now we have six games to play in the Regulation round which, starts on March 10 and ends on March 27th.

On Friday I spent the day leading classes at Manglerud Middle School. A teammate who teaches 7th grade asked if I could come and discuss America with the students since they were having an all English speaking day. (I thing it is pretty amazing that most all of the kids in Norway are able to speak two languages at such a young age.) I thought the plan was to give a brief description of America and Minnesota and then answer a few questions from the students. Once I arrived at school, I found out I would be leading four different forty minute classes. I was a little unprepared for that much time, but it ended up going very well. The students were pretty excited and after my brief introduction on America they asked questions until class was over.

Hey Trav thanks for the post. Good to hear you are now teaching school - what a versatile guy. Good luck with the rest of your season and see you when you get home.
